August 2009

Hi All,
This month's club meeting will be hosted Thursday, August 27, 7PM+, by Mike and Kallie Wood at their home in Bremerton.

From Mike:

Alan, Lets go with a Lager theme, to encourage more lager homebrewing over the coming months. Also, no saisons. [Ed. note: We think he's kidding about the saisons]

Contact Us for directions.

KCF Homebrew Competition
The Kitsap County Fair runs from August 26-30. We are not allowed to announce the results of the homebrew competition until the fair opens. Anyways, the beers have yet to pass through the Best of Show round of judging.
http://www.kitsapgov.com/parks/fair_stampede.htm

The judges have been impressed with the entries, with loads of real amazing brews.

Here's a note from Jonathan at Marina Market in downtown Poulsbo, part of the great one two punch of bottled beer shops along with Tizley's. If one doesn't have what you're looking for, the other might, and both seem willing to order whatever you ask for.

He's also setting up a mailing list so get in touch and do drop in.

Hey Guys! I still don't have a real working newsletter, but just wanted to let you know I got a couple new goodies in yesterday:

Fullers London Porter, St. Feullien Cuvee de Noel, & Pierre Celis Signature Grotten.

I haven't tried any of them yet, but I am sure that will happen tonight or tomorrow!

We can petition our pubs for beer
Posted by John Foyston, The Oregonian August 12, 2009 11:09AM
Categories: Beer on the Web, Buzz Beers, This sparky new world, beercasting

This is a press release these guys sent along...sounds like a cool idea in some ways -- I'm all for customer choice, but I also love quirky and, yes, even idiosycncratic tap lists that encourage me to climb out of my happy hoppy rut and try new beers...so, this could be cool -- or, as Mr. Churchill noted at a considerably more parlous moment, it could be that we sink into the abyss of a new dark age, made more sinister by the lights of perverted science...

BeerPetitions.com, a new website launched this week, aims to allow craft beer drinkers to aggregate their beer wish lists online so that local retail establishments will know the beers their customers wan. This web tool could change how retail establishments choose beer brands and could dramatically increase craft beer market share.

BeerPetitions.com allows registered users to create an online petition for a specific beer brand to be carried at a particular retail establishment such as a bar, restaurant, or store. Members create profiles, add their signatures to petitions, and add comments to petition pages. Members also have the option to receive email alerts when new petitions are created for selected retail establishments.

"BeerPetitions.com is a great resource for both general beer drinkers and purveyors of extreme craft brands," says Luke Livingston, social media expert and author of industry-leading BlogAboutBeer.com. "The general public is now able to collectively organize to convince distributors to bring wide-reaching beers such as Yuengling lager to a new state, while extreme craft drinkers can petition a specific retail shop or bar to experiment with a rare beer brand that is already available through a distributor."

"In addition to empowering purchasers, this simple tool will also help craft breweries, craft distributors, and retailers better understand the changing tastes and demands of their local consumers," said BeerPetitions.com founder Brandon Turman. Bars can set up petitions for craft beer brands they are considering and have their patrons essentially vote for which brand should be carried -- taking the guesswork out of purchasing decisions. In addition, the bar owner can then email patrons who signed the successful petition to come in and purchase the newly delivered beer brand. Connecting retailers to patrons will ultimately lead to more satisfied customers and increased sales for retailers.

Craft breweries can also benefit from the service by creating petitions for their beer brands at targeted retail establishments and promoting the petitions to their fan bases. "If a sales representative from a craft brewery can approach a retailer with a list of over 100 signatures for one of their beer brands, it establishes a visible source of demand and will provide a compelling competitive advantage," said Jonathon Lunardi, editor of JustBeerNews.com.

To help members and retailers get started, informational pages give step-by-step instructions for creating successful petitions and setting up email alerts. All tools are available completely free and revenue is planned with advertising and affiliate partnerships.

"For the site to be valuable, craft beer advocates must unite to create petitions for craft beer brands in retail establishments they frequently visit. We hope beer enthusiasts everywhere start a local petition today," Turman said.

From the Distinguished Brands International newsletter:
RALEIGH, NC - The North Carolina Senate gave a preliminary vote earlier this month on a bill which will eliminate the three day waiting period required before a consumer can go into a bar or nightclub. The current law classifies establishments that sell liquor as "private clubs". These private clubs are only allowed to admit members and their guests inside. If you apply for a membership, you would still have to wait the required three days before actually getting in. Restaurants selling liquor where at least 30% of gross revenue comes from food and non-alcoholic drinks don't have the membership requirement. If the bill passes, a customer would still have to purchase an annual membership, but they would no longer have to wait the three days for the membership to become active. It effectively eliminates a competitive advantage that liquor-serving restaurants enjoy over traditional bars. Tourism executives from Raleigh and Charlotte have sought hard to eliminate the three-day wait because it often frustrates tourists who want to visit bars while in town to attend conventions, Carolina Panthers football games, Carolina Hurricanes hockey games and other such events.
[ed. note]Membership fees are often as low as $1.

UNITED KINGDOM – Molson Coors is launching its largest ever marketing campaign for its Coors Light brand. The cost is projected to be £3.5m. The tagline -"The world’s most refreshing beer". The campaign will begin on July 17th with a new 30 second UK television and cinema advertisement. There will also be an outdoor campaign that will include 5,000 posters and moving digital image screens in city center locations. Steve Mitchell, senior marketing manager for Molson Coors UK, says the campaign is a "significant investment" that aims to "to build awareness and trial with consumers".

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Elysian Brewing Joins Reunion-A Beer for Hope Team

Kick-Off event at Elysian Capitol Hill Tuesday, August 18 with Elysian
Brewers, Pete Slosberg & Alan Shapiro

August 14, 2009 - Seattle, Washington

Now in its third year, Reunion - A Beer for Hope has welcomed four regional breweries as production partners for 2009. Bison Brewing in California returns for its third year. Joining Bison are Terrapin Brewing in Georgia, Pizza Port Brewing in Southern California, and Elysian Brewing in Seattle.

The 2009 Reunion beer is a Double Wheat Ale with a hint of lemon, based on the original Pete's Wicked Summer BrewR. The recipe for this year's brew was conceived by Pete and Brian "Spike" Buckowski of Terrapin. Each brewer has adapted that recipe to meet the requirements of their production facility and place their individual stamp on the beer. It is available in draft only.

Elysian brewers Dick Cantwell and Marcus Stinson describe their version of Reunion as hazy golden with a pronounced citrus nose. Fruit and subtle spice notes dominate the pallet, with a rich, soft finish. It is brewed with Pale Malt Torrified Wheat, Accidulated Malt, Weyerman Wheat and Great Western White Wheat. It is bittered with Sorachi Ace hops and spiced with orange peel, lemon grass and coriander. 7.5% alcohol by volume.

"I am thrilled to have Elysian on board as a brewing and fundraising partner for 2009," noted Reunion co-founder Alan Shapiro. "They have been an enthusiastic partner and I look forward to tasting another fantastic Elysian beer."

"We are honored to work with Pete and Alan on this very worthwhile project," added Elysian Sales Director David Buhler.

Elysian and the Reunion team will officially launch this year's release with a public event at Elysian Capitol Hill (1221 E. Pike St. Seattle, WA 98122) starting at 5p on Tuesday, August 18. Joining the Elysian team will be Reunion project Co-Founders Pete Slosberg (Pete's Wicked AleR) and Alan Shapiro of SBS Imports, a Seattle-based specialty beer & cider importer. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase Reunion '09 pint glasses featuring all four brewery logos for $5. 100% of those proceeds will go directly to The Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research (www.imbcr.org) the beneficiary of the profits generated by Reunion.

Reunion Double Wheat Ale will be sold at all three Elysian locations as well as 15 other outlets in the Seattle-Tacoma area. Elysian will be making a donation for every pint sold at their locations as well as every keg sold to area restaurants and pubs. As these locations are confirmed they will be posted at www.reunionbeer.com/myelomalinks.php.

Announcing: Ayinger Weizen-Bock

From:"Craig Hartinger"

Announcing: Ayinger Weizen-Bock!

Seattle, August 11, 2009

One of the world's most respected breweries has some exciting news: the US introduction of Ayinger Weizen-Bock.

Ayinger Weizen-Bock, a strong wheat ale, is pale - "helles" - and brewed from a grist of 60% wheat malt and 40% barley malt. Produced via a decoction mash, it has the astonishing finesse, aroma, and flavor of Ayinger's famed wheat beers but with the flavors turned up to balance the greater strength. It offers the classic Bavarian weizen beer aroma, suggesting spice and cloves; a smooth body that drinks fairly full; and flavor that is the essence of the wheat harvest, fresh-baked bread, some of the richness of great home-made vegetable soup, and somehow maybe even the afternoon sunshine of a fall day. It's bottle-conditioned, of course, and presents a beautiful rocky head upon pouring.

Ayinger Weizen-Bock is a winter seasonal only - look for it at great beer spots starting sometime near the end of September. We recommend you grab some when you see it: this is a rare style, truly a world class beer - as such, production is very limited.

ABV: 7.1% OG: 1.067 IBU: 10; packaged in traditional, slender half-liter bottles, 20 per case.

Merchant du Vin imports a full range of Bavarian specialty beers from Ayinger Brewery: Celebrator Doppelbock, Brau-Weisse, Ur-Weisse, Altbairisch Dunkel, Jahrhundertbier and Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen.

Washington IPA Challenge
The Washington IPA Challenge is a chance for WA IPAs to go up against a selection of great IPAs from around the country, as well as against each other.

The first part of this challenge is a blind tasting where select judges will determine the best IPA and Imperial IPA out of a stellar lineup of submissions. Judging will take place on Saturday, August 22. Some great breweries are on board for the challenge, and the judges will have their hands full picking a winner. IPAs and Imperial IPAs will be judged separately. At the end of the day, they'll determine whether a brewery from within the state keeps the Washington IPA Challenge crown, or if an out-of-state brewery can steal it away. Full results will be announced after the competition.

The second part of the challenge will give consumers the chance to taste a selection of IPAs and rate them blind. Beveridge Place Pub will host a blind IPA tasting from Noon to 5pm on Saturday, August 22 that will determine the winner of the Customer Favorite award. Beveridge Place will have up to 14 IPAs on tap that you will be able to order and rate blind (sample sizes will be available). This is a great opportunity to test your taste buds and see if your favorite IPA in name really is your favorite IPA.

First Annual Little Woody Barrel Aged Brew Festival Rolls Into Bend Oregon
Saturday September 12th 2009

Lay It Out Events is proud to present the First Annual Little Woody Barrel Aged Brew Festival. This event promises to be one of Bend's tastiest events. This festival will feature hand crafted, wood aged beer as well as one specialty brew from all of Central Oregon's seven breweries. The Little Woody will be the place to be September 12th. Festival goers will enjoy live music, great food, a wood carving exhibition and beer tastings throughout the day and into the night.

The mission of The Little Woody is to celebrate one of Central Oregon's cultural hallmarks - the great brews created right here in our backyard and provide a fun environment for people to enjoy all of those brews in one place.

In the old days, brewers served beer that was aged in oaken cask, now brewers are rolling back the barrels for flavoring beer. The Little Woody Festival will shine the light on this ancient brewing technique, as adapted by American craft brewers by featuring beers aged in wine barrels, whisky barrels and oak barrels which uniquely flavors and intensifies the beer.

The Little Woody will take place in downtown Bend on the lawn of the Deschutes Historical Society located on the corner of Wall Street and Idaho.

Featured wood aged brews will be created and served by the following breweries:
Deschutes Brewery
Cascade Lakes Brewing
Bend Brewing Company
Silver Moon Brewing
Ten Barrel Brewing
McMenamins
Three Creeks Brewing Co.

Event hours are Saturday September 12th from 12pm-10pm.
Admission to the event is just $6 and includes a commemorative glass.
A tasting package is available for $15 and includes a commemorative glass and tasting tickets. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the Deschutes Historical Society.

BEER TUNES
Alan Jackson
"Itty Bitty"
Have a little love on a little honeymoon
You got a little dish and you got a little spoon
Little bitty house and a little bitty yard
Little Bitty dog and a little bitty car

Chorus:
Well it's alright to be little bitty
Little hometown or a big ol' city
Might as well share, might as well smile
life goes on for a little bitty while

A little bitty baby and a little bitty gown
It'll grow up in a littly bitty town
Big yellow bus and little bitty books
It all started with a littly bitty look

Chorus

You know you've got a job and a little bitty chick
Six-pack of beer and a television set
Little bitty world goes around and around
Little bit of silence and little bit of sound

A good ol boy and a pretty little girl
Start all over in a little bitty world
Little bitty plan and a little bitty dream
It's all part of a little bitty scheme

Chorus X2

Kenny Chesney
"Out Last Night"

We went out last night
Like we swore we wouldn’t do
Drank too much beer last night
A lot more than we wanted to
There were girls from Argentina and Arkansas
Maine, Alabama and Panama
All mixed together and having a ball

Chorus
Yeah, we went went out last night
One thing started leading to another
Out last night
Getting to know everybody and their mother
There were two karaoke girls drunk on a dare
Singing "I Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher
Yeah, life was good everywhere
We went out last night

Well you know I’m a music man
I grew up in east Tennessee
Last night I was everything
When I got a few drinks in me
I was a doctor, a lawyer, a senator’s son
Brad Pitt’s brother and a man on the run
Anything I thought would get the job done

Chorus
Yeah we went out last night
One thing started leading to another
Out last night
Getting to know everybody and their mother
There were people doing body shots up on the bar
Jimmy in a fist fight out by the car
Everybody was some kind of star
When we went out last night

Well the fact that I’m still breathing
Means that I must have survived
And that I lived to go out with my friends again tonight

Chorus
Oh, We went out last night
One thing started leading to another
Out last night
Everybody started loving on each other

They were dancing on the tables
And howling at the moon
Pairing up together and pretty soon
There was not a sole in sight
When we went out last night

Artist: Houser, Randy
Song: Boots On
Album: Anything Goes

Man, I've been workin too hard
Ten hour days and I'm tired
Damn this knuckle busted',
back breakin', no paying job
Know where I'm goin from here
Hot headed women, cold beer
Kick up my heels for a little while
and do it country style

[Chorus]
In my dirty 'ole hat
with my crooked little grin
Granny beaded neck
and these calloused hands
And a muddy pair of jeans
with that copenhagen ring
No need to change a thing, hey y'all
I'm going out with my boots on

How I keep catching her eye
Man, I keep wondering why
Ain't nothing special 'bout
an "awe shucks" country boy
Lord, she's sure lookin' good
Like something from Hollywood
She got me thinkin' that I just might
leave here with her tonight

[Chorus]

'Cause I am who I am and that's
the man I'm gonna be, yeah
And when the Lord comes callin',
well, he ain't gonna have
to holler, y'all
There'll be no trouble finding me

[Chorus]

With my boots on
He's gonna take me home
Lord, with my boots on

Jesse Lee
It's a Girl Thing

You think roses, are a waste of time
Cause in three days, they'll just wilt up and die
We want em anyway
Yeah It's a girl thing

You think we're pretty, at the break of dawn
When we wake up without make up on
We turn the other way
Hey It's a girl thing

Chorus:
We love romance,and candle lights
You like a cold beer, we like a fine wine
You hardly talk, we can talk all night
You wanna fix it, and we just wanna cry
It's a girl thing
It's a girl thing

We're impulsive, but you think it's cute
Cause the last thing we need is a new pair of shoes
We got a closet full
Yeah It's a girl thing

We say be honest, does my butt look fat
You say the same thing no matter how much we ask
Cause you ain't no fool
Yeah you know
It's a girl thing

Chorus:
We love romance,and candle lights
You like a cold beer, we like a fine wine
You hardly talk, we can talk all night
You wanna fix it, and we just wanna cry

You wanna go dancin', we think it's kinda sweet
When you step on her toes with your two left feet
Turn the radio up when our song comes on
We just can't help but sing along

It's a girl thing
It's a girl thing
Yeah

We love weddings,and diamond rings
You want a girlfriend, but you don't want strings
We want a four course meal, you want Hooters wings
A football game on the plasma screen

Chorus:
We love romance,and candle lights
You like a cold beer, we like a fine wine
You hardly talk, we can talk all night
You wanna fix it, and we just wanna cry

It's a girl thing (Yeah yeah)
It's a girl thing (Yeah yeah)
Boys it's a girl thing (Yeah Yeah)
It's a girl thing (Yeah yeah)

Justin Moore
"Small Town USA"

A lot of people called it prison when I was growin up
These are my roots and this is what I love
Cause everybody knows me and i know them
And I believe that's the way we were supposed to live
Wouldn't trade one single day in small town USA

Chorus
Give me a Saturday night my baby by my side
A little Hank Jr. and a six pack of lights
Old dirt road and ill be just fine
Give me a Sunday morning that full of grace
A simple life and I'll be okay
Here in small town USA

Around here people break there backs just to earn a buck
Don't ever get ahead but we have enough
I watch people leave and they come right back
I never wanted any part of that
I'm proud to say that I love this place
Good ole small town USA

Chorus
Give me a Saturday night my baby by my side
David Allen Coe and a six pack of lights
Old dirt road and ill be just fine
Give me a Sunday morning that full of grace
A simple life and I'll be okay
Here in small town USA
Oh yeah

Wouldn't trade one single day
I'm proud to say i love this place

Chorus
Give me a Saturday night my baby by my side
Sweet home Alabama a six pack of lights
Old dirt road and ill be just fine
Give me a Sunday morning that full of grace
A simple life and I'll be okay
Here in small town USA

Miranda Lambert
"Gunpowder and Lead"

County road 233, under my feet
Nothin' on this white rock but little ole me
I've got two miles till, he makes bail
And if I'm right we're headed straight for hell

[Chorus:]

I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
If he wants a fight well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet
He slap my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm going to show him what a little girls made of
Gunpowder and lead

It's half past ten, another six pack in
And I can feel the rumble like a cold black wind
He pulls in the drive, the gravel flies
He dont know what's waiting here this time

I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
If he wants a fight well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet
He slap my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm going to show him what a little girls made of
Gunpowder and lead

His fist is big but my gun's bigger
He'll find out when I pull the trigger

I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
If he wants a fight well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet
He slap my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm going to show him what a little girls made of
Gunpowder and lead

Rehab "Bartender Song (Sittin' At A Bar)" v1.
(Feat. Hank Williams Jr.)

Bartender I really did it this time
Broke my parole to have a good time
When I got home it was 6 a.m.
The door was locked so I kicked it in
She was trippin' on the bills
I think she was high on some pills
She threw my xxxx out into the yard
The she called me a bum and slapped me real hard
And in my drunkin' stooper
I did what I should of never done
Now I'm sittin' here talking to you
Drunk and on the run

I'm sittin' at a bar on the inside
Waitin' for my ride on the outside
She broke my heart in the trailer park
So I jacked the keys to her fuckin' car
Crashed that piece of xxxx and then stepped away

You know mo I'll probably get ten years
So just give me beers 'til they get here
Yeah I know the sun is comin' up
And you all are probably gettin' ready for closin' up
But I'm trying to drown my soul
I'm tired of this life on a dirt road
And everything that I love is gone
And I'm tired of hangin' on

She got me sittin' at a bar on the inside
Waitin' for my ride on the outside
She stole my heart in the trailer park
So I jacked the keys to her fuckin' car
Crashed that piece of xxxx and then stepped away

I guess it's meant to be
Romance is misery
So much for memories
And now I'm headed to the Penitentiary
See me on T.V.
The next cop series
I am a danger
I guess I should've done something about my anger
But I'll never learn
Real things I don't concern
I pour kerosene on everything I love and watch it burn
I know it's my fault
But I wasn't happy it was over
She through a fit so I crashed that piece a xxxx nova

And now I'm goin' back again
Back to the pen to see my friends
And when we all pile out that county van
They'll ask me where I've been

I've been at a bar on the inside
Waitin' for my ride on the outside
She broke my heart in the trailer park
So I jacked the keys to her fuckin' car
Crashed that piece of xxxx and then stepped away

Jimmy Buffett - Great Filling Station Holdup

By: Jimmy Buffett
1973
i Pulled Into The Regular Pump
i Was Feelin' Quite At Ease
i Rolled Down My Window And Told The Man, "fifty Cents Worth Please"
then Out Jumped My Partner With His Trusty Pellet Gun
he Said, "boy This Is A Holdup, Keep 'a Pumpin' And Don't Run"

chorus:
and Now I Wish I Was Somewhere Other Than Here
down In Some Honky Tonk, Sippin' On A Beer
yes I Wish I Was Somewhere Other Than Here
because That Great Fillin' Station Holdup
cost Me Two Good Years

we Got Fifteen Dollars And A Can Of Stp
a Big Ol' Jar Of Cashew Nuts And A Japanese Tv
feelin' We Had Pulled The Biggest Heist Of Our Career
we're Wanted Men, We'll Strike Again
but First Let's Have A Beer

chorus:
and Now I Wish I Was Somewhere Other Than Here
down In Some Honky Tonk, Sippin' On A Beer
yes I Wish I Was Somewhere Other Than Here
because That Great Fillin' Station Holdup
cost Me Two Good Years

(Guitar Instrumental)

we Were Sittin' In The Krystal
about As Drunk As We Could Be
in Walks The Deputy Sheriff
and He's Holdin' Our Tv
roughed Us Then He Cuffed Us
and He Took Us Off To Jail
no Pictures On A Poster, No Reward And No Bail

chorus:
and Now I Wish I Was Somewhere Other Than Here
down In Some Honky Tonk, Sippin' On A Beer
yes I Wish I Was Somewhere Other Than Here
'cause That Great Fillin' Station Holdup
cost Me Two Good Years

yes That Great Fillin' Station Holdup
it Cost Me Two Good Years

The Weather Is Here Wish You Were Beautiful

By: jimmy buffett
1980
-- spoken:
"play ball!! (one, two, three, four)"
"where’s my per diem? (ladies and gentlemen, the carl reiner band)"
"hey bobby, where’s the keys to the rent-a-car? "
"jimmy, jimmy, can I open the show in atlanta please? "
"warning! don’t ever start a band!"

He worked hard all year, just wanted a few weeks alone
But his old lady’s into modelin’, she can’t get away from a phone
Besides she bit*hes about the mosquitoes
She says, "down there there is nothing to do"
Her goddamn phone never stops ringin’
He’ll try the service in a day maybe two

Well he’s on his third drink before the wheels of the plane leave the ground
Makin’ points with the stewardess high over long island sound
She’s also spending some time on the island
Too much city madness gives her the blues
They make a date to go dancin’ and dinin’
It seems neither has that much to lose

Chorus:
The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
My thoughts aren’t too clear but don’t run away
My girlfriend’s a bore, my job is too dutiful
Hell nobody’s perfect would you like to play?
I feel together today

Well now that’s just the start of a well-deserved overdue binge
Meanwhile back in the city certain people are starting to cringe
His lawyers are calling his parents
His girlfriend doesn’t know what to think
His partners are studying their options
He’s just singin’ and orderin’ drinks

Chorus:
The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
The skies are too clear life’s so easy today
The beer is too cold, the daiquiri’s too fruitiful
No place like home when you’re this far away
I don’t care what they say (I don’t care)

He’s goin’ back to new york pack it up and let everyone know
It was something that he should have done such a long time ago
Still time to start a new life in the palm trees
Ah, billy clyde wasn’t insane
And if it doesn’t work out there’ll never be any doubt
That the pleasure was worth all the pain

Chorus:
The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
The skies are too clear life’s so easy today
The beer is too cold, the daiquiri’s too fruitiful
No place like home when you’re this far away
Time for to play
I need time for to play
Time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play

Jimmy Buffett
"Bama Breeze"

At the Bama Breeze,
You can shoot some pool down there,
You can act a fool down there,
You can play it cool down there

At the Bama Breeze,
You can drink some beer down there,
Argue, laugh, and cheer down there,
Pass another year down there

Jimmy got caught, smokin' a joint out behind the bar,
Sittin in his car and they took him to jail,
The tip jar paid his bail,
In 1984 Mick Jagger passed through town,
Bought the house a round, signed his name on the wall,
In the ladies bathroom stall
Yeah

At the Bama Breeze,
I turned 21 down there,
Had too much fun down there,
Stumbled out with the sun down there,

(Instrumental)

Saturday night,
The bouncer Grady lets the ladies in free,
With a fake ID and a short enough skirt,
Yeah, he figures what the hell could it hurt

Second set, the owner Lulu gets up with the band,
A beer in her hand, and sings Free Bird slow,
Then she raises a toast,
"Here's to Ronnie and the bar,
Now everyboy make some noise!"

At the Bama Breeze,
You're one of our own down there,
You never drink alone down there,
Good God I feel at home down there,

At the Bama Breeze,
You're one of our own down there,
You never drink alone down there,
Good God I feel at home down there

Peanut Butter Conspiracy by Jimmy Buffett

Lookin’ back at my hard luck days
I really do have to laugh
Workin’ in a dive for twenty-six dollars
Spendin’ it all on grass
We were hungry hard luck heroes
Tryin’ just to stay alive
So we’d go down to the corner grocery
This is how we’d survive.

(Chorus)
Who’s gonna steal the peanut butter
I’ll get a can of sardines
Runnin’ up and down the aisle of the Mini-Mart
Stickin’ food in our jeans
We never took more than we could eat
There was plenty left on the racks
We all swore if we ever got rich
We would pay the Mini-Mart back
Yes Sir, yes Sir
We would pay the Mini-Mart back.

It was a two man operation
Had it all down on a note
Ricky would watch the big round mirror
And I’d fill up my coat
Then we’d head for the check-out aisle
With a lemon and a bottle of beer
Into the car got to make it on home
‘Cause supper time is gettin’ near.
(Repeat chorus)

I guess every good picker has had some hard times
I have had my share
It’s really kinda funny to laugh at it now
But I don’t wanna go back there
So every now and then when I’m in a grocery
I’ll take a little but not much
‘Cause you never know when the hard times will hit ya
And I don’t want to lose my touch.
(Repeat chorus and fade with adlib)

Ringling, ringling
By: jimmy buffett
1974
Ringlin', ringlin' slippin' away
Only forty people livin' there today
Streets are dusty and the bank has been torn down
It's a dyin' little town

Church windows broken, that place ain't been used in years
Jail don't have a sheriff or a cell
And electric trains they run by maybe once or twice a month
Easin' it on down the muscle shell

Chorus:
Ringlin', ringlin' slippin' away
Only forty people livin' there today
'cause the streets are dusty and the bank has been torn down
It's a dyin' little town

And across from the bar there's a pile of beer cans
Been there twenty-seven years
Imagine all the heartaches and tears
In twenty-seven years of beer

So we hopped back in the rent-a-car
And we hit the cruise control
Pretty soon the town was out of site
Though we left behind a fat barmaid, a cowboy, and a dog
Bracin' for a ringlin' friday night

Chorus:
Ringlin', ringlin' you're just slippin' away
I wonder how many people will be there a year from today
'cause the streets are dusty and the bank has been torn down
It's a dyin' little town
Yeah, it's a dyin' little town
