Big Brew 2010!

Big BrewBig Brew 2010 will be held on Saturday, May 1st, beginning at 9 am at Marti & Ernie Gwaltney's house. If you plan to brew, feel free to show up a little early (8:30-ish) to start setting up. We will be participating in the world-wide toast at 10 am. If you aren't on our mailing list, Contact Us for directions and to get added to the list.

If you aren't familiar with Big Brew, it is an event sponsored by the American Homebrewers Association where they encourage clubs from around the world to get together on the first Saturday in May (National Homebrew Day) and have as many people as possible brew beer together. The AHA publishes official recipes each year which they encourage people to brew, but you are free to brew whatever you want. Participating sites are registered with the AHA and then we report our statistics (number of participants, number of batches, and total gallons of beer brewed) to them afterwards.

Our club has participated in Big Brew as far back as I can remember and it's always a great time. Everyone is welcome to attend whether you plan to brew or not. It is an excellent learning experience for new or potential brewers because there will be several people brewing on a variety of different equipment, extract and all-grain, and probably all different styles of beer.

Here are some galleries of pictures from our Big Brew gatherings in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

How'd we fare on the numbers?  40 gallons of bier and 'bout 27-29 people??  Mary showed up way late.

Can't wait!

So, any list of items we can bring?

Nothing in particular

Bring any beer you want to share, and you can coordinate any food you might want to bring with Marti.
